Prepositions of time

( giới từ thời gian)

1) ON:

+ Before day of the week: on Monday, on Friday, on Saturday…

+ Before day + part of a day: on Sunday morning, on Friday afternoon, on Saturday evening

+ Before date of the month: on 15th of November, on November 12th, on 31^st of July

+ On special days/festivals: on Christmas Day, on my birthday, on New Year’s eve..

+ Others: on the weekends, on time (đúng giờ), on weekdays ….

2) AT:

+ Before exact time: at 3 o’clock, at 3pm, at 6am, at half past six (6:30)

+ Before speacial holidays: at Christmas, at Easter, at Halloween….

+ Others: at breakfast time, at lunch time, at noon (vào giữa trưa), at night, at midnight (vào giữa đêm), at the moment, at present, at the weekend, at weekends, at the same time (cùng lúc), at the age of five: vào lúc 5 tuổi.

3) IN:

+ Before year: in 2020, in 1979…

+ Before month: in March, in April, in August…

+ Before season: in Autumn, in Spring, in the summer….

+ Before century (thế kỷ): in 21^th century…

+ in the end (cuối cùng), in the past (trong quá khứ, trước đây)

+ in + number + minutes/days/months/weeks. (trong bao lâu nữa)

+ Before part of a day: in the morning, in the afternoon…

4) Other prepositions (giới từ khác):

+ during + N: trong suốt thời gian….( during the meeting, during the lesson…)

+ after/ before (after 6pm: sau 6 giờ chiều)

+ from …. to ….. (từ…đến…) VD: from Monday to Friday…

+ until/till (cho đến) VD: I will stay here until Saturday/ Wait here until she comes back!)

+ since: từ (since last month, since 2010)

+ for : khoảng (for 3 years, for 5 days, for two months….)
